About Threadbare & Beloved

Hi, I’m Joanie, and I’m so glad you’re here! I knit, crochet and quilt, and there’s almost always a project in my lap, on my needles or under my sewing machine. I started this blog to share what I’m making, the stories behind each piece and, before long, some patterns of my own.

Why “Threadbare & Beloved”

You know that one quilt everyone reaches for, the one that’s gone soft and a little thin from years of naps and movie nights? That’s what this name is about. To me, a handmade piece is at its best when it’s been used so much the threads start to show.

I don’t make things to sit folded in a closet. I make them to be dragged to the couch, wrapped around shoulders and loved until they’re threadbare. Made to be loved until the threads show: that’s the whole idea.

What you’ll find here

This is where I’ll share my quilts, knits and crochet, from the first blocks and cast-ons to the finished pieces. I’ll be honest about the hard parts too, like how exhausting free motion quilting can be. Not every project goes smoothly, and I think that’s half the fun.

Patterns on the way

I’m also working on my very first patterns, and I can’t wait to share them with you. Stay tuned!
